I cancelled my account - why has Moz charged my card?
If you are seeing a subscription charge on your credit card from Moz this may be due to signing up for the Moz Pro free trial, or a monthly or annual purchase or renewal payment for Moz Pro or Moz Local. You need to cancel future auto-renewal for each service individually, following our guides for Moz Local and Moz Pro.
If you believe your account was cancelled and you were charged again, it may be due to one of the following:
- The subscription was cancelled after the renewal date
- If your subscription was cancelled after the renewal date and a charge attempt was already in progress, the charge will still complete and your subscription will end on the following renewal date. You can check that this is the issue by logging into your account on Moz.com. If you still have access to the tools, the cancellation went into effect after the renewal date.
- Cancelled on day of renewal
- Cancellations must be made at least 1 day prior to the renewal date in order to ensure a charge is not made to your card. If you cancel your subscription on the date of your renewal, a charge may occur.
- Cancelled Moz Pro but not Moz Local or vice versa
- Moz Local and Moz Pro are separate subscriptions which each require their own cancellation. If you cancelled one service but not the other, a charge will still occur for the active service. You can see what subscriptions you have active within the subscriptions section of your account: https://moz.com/subscriptions.
- Cancellation process was not completed
- If you attempted to cancel your subscription but all the steps were not completed, the cancellation will not go through. Please ensure that you follow all the cancellation steps, including filling out the survey, when cancelling your Moz subscription.
If you log into your account and you’re not seeing a subscription that matches the charge on your card there may be an account under an alternate email address tied to your card. If you believe there is another account which may be set up on moz.com tied to your credit card, please email help@moz.com with the following information so we can locate the account:
- Full name on the credit card charged
- Last 4 digits of the credit card charged
- Date of the charge
- Amount of the charge
Why do I have a $1 charge on my credit card from Moz?
Our free trial is free to use, however in some cases your card will be authorized which may require an authorization charge of up to $1. This is then instantly voided.
We may also do an authorization charge when a new credit card is entered on your account to ensure the new card is valid. This helps to prevent an interruption in your service due to an invalid card being entered.
If you are not seeing the authorization charge refunded or dropped off your pending transactions for your credit card, we recommend reaching out to your bank directly to see when that will be fully processed.
I was on a free trial, why did you charge my card?
Moz Pro free trials will automatically roll into a paid, medium level subscription at the end of the 30 days unless cancelled or a new plan level is selected prior to the end of the trial. This is stated in our terms of use and is outlined in the summary screen prior to sign up.
