Introduction to Location and Sync Status
When managing Moz Local locations, you will see a variety of statuses noted throughout your account and the tool. We’re here to help you understand what each of those mean and when you may need to take action to get the most out of your subscription(s).
There are two main places you will see Status noted - in your Subscription Summary for Moz Local and within the Locations view of your Moz Local account. Please note: If you only manage one location in Moz Local, the Locations view may not be available to you.
Below we will cover each of these and define the different statuses you may see noted.
Subscription Summary - Status
Within the Subscription Summary page of your account, the Status of your location(s) will be noted in the second to last column. This status indicates whether the subscription is actively set to renew and whether the location needs review.
Within this view, you may see the following statuses noted:
Active - Indicates the location is active and set to automatically renew.
Processing - Indicates the location has been purchased and our system is finishing the initial setup.
Pending Cancel - Indicates auto-renew has been disabled. The location will be cancelled and removed from your account on the renewal date unless the subscription is reactivated at least 72 hours prior.
Needs Sync - Indicates the location requires review. Some data fields required for sync may be missing. Please click the Location ID in the far left column to update your location profile and begin the sync process. You can learn more about what information is needed to start syncing here.
Suspended - Indicates there was a billing issue associated with your account. Please review your billing details to ensure we are able to charge the credit card on file and reactivate your account. You can learn more about possible billing issues here.
Needs Review - Indicates there may be an issue with locating the address for this location. Please click the Location ID in the far left column to review any errors noted in the location’s Profile.
Closed - Indicates the location has been marked as permanently closed and the subscription has been cancelled. Once the billing period has ended, this location will be removed from your account.
Error - Indicates there was an error encountered during location creation. By clicking the Location ID or Error status, you will be taken to a screen where you can re-enter your location data to resolve the error. If you need assistance with this process, please email help@moz.com with the location name, address, and location ID and our Help Team will be able to assist.
Locations - Sync Status
Within the Locations view of your Moz Local account, Sync Status gives you the option to view only locations which are currently Synced, those for which a Sync never started, or those which Require new sync.
Within this Sync Status column, you can filter to see locations with the following statuses:
Synced - Indicates Auto-sync is enabled and/or this location has been synced with our partner directories.
Sync never started - Indicates that Auto-sync is not enabled for this location and your location data has not been synced with directories. Saving your location profile data will confirm any changes within the Moz Local Profile. To submit those changes to partner directories, you'll need to either sync manually or switch on auto-sync.
Requires new sync - Indicates that the Profile for this location has been updated and saved but Auto-sync is not enabled. A new sync is required in order to submit the new changes to partner directories.
Requires Review - Indicates there was an issue with the cleansing process for this location and the listing details will need to be reviewed and updated within your Profile section. Please see our Data Cleansing guide for more details.
The date listed in the Sync column to the far right indicates the last time new location data was synced to our partner directories. Please note: A new sync is only required if the profile data for this location has been updated and saved. Our app will continuously submit the same data every 3 days to our partner directories to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Locations - Location Status
Within the Locations view of your Moz Local account, the Location Status column shows the renewal date for the location and whether or not auto-renew is enabled via the colored dot to the left.
Within this Location Status column, you may see the following statuses noted:
Active (Green) - Indicates the location has auto-renew enabled for this location and the subscription will renew on the date noted.
Cancelled (Yellow) - Indicates auto-renew is disabled and the location will be removed from your account on the date noted.
Closed (Red) - Indicates the location has been marked as permanently closed and is in a cancelled state.
Inactive (Grey) - If a location is deactivated (a.k.a. canceled), we will cancel the connection between the location and the directories. The directory entries for the location will remain online but they will no longer be updated via Moz Local. Please note: Some directories will remove the content which was once pushed and updated via Moz Local once the subscription is no longer active.
Auto-Sync
Auto-Sync is a feature of Moz Local which allows you to set your location(s) to automatically submit updates to our partners once changes are saved to your Profile.
From the Profile tab, you can choose to turn on auto-sync using the Auto-sync toggle button. Remember to click on the Save changes button once you’ve made your updates. Once auto-sync is toggled on, any changes you make to your business information will be automatically submitted to partner directories and platforms within 20 - 30 minutes of saving. If auto-sync is not active, any changes made to your Profile data will need to be synced manually through using the Sync now button.
Please note: Whether Auto-sync is enabled or not, we will continue to push data to our partner directories every 3 days to ensure consistency and accuracy. When Auto-sync is disabled, the data pushed will be the data last synced until a new sync is manually performed.
How to Manually Sync Locations
If you opt to not have Auto-sync enabled or if you are just setting up your locations for the first time, you may need to manually sync your data. To do so, you can click Sync now from within the Profile of a specific location.
Alternatively, you can manually sync locations from the Locations view by using the filters outlined above to find locations requiring sync. Select the locations you’d like to sync using the check boxes on the left and then click START SYNC on the top right.
If a location does not have the option to select it via a check box, this indicates that Auto-sync is enabled for this location and any changes made will be automatically submitted without needing a manual sync. It may also indicate that no recent changes have been made to a location’s profile and therefore a new sync is not required.
