Are topic clusters a good use of time/energy?
-
I'm learning about topic clusters, and not sure if it's a good use of time/energy, but first want to make sure I understand the concept.
Topic Clusters
You have a main blog, or marketing web page, such as "The holistic solution for a healthy cat" where you actually sell a thing, let's say an imagine "Monthly Cat Health Everything Box" subscription.
Now that page is ranking poorly and already optimized for SEO on "healthy cat" type words. So, you then go in and create a bunch of sub-pages or blogs on dome same website/domain for like Best Cat food for Main Coons, How to get lazy cats to exercise, etc. Each one will a single link up to the main blog or page. Now you're getting Google authority "weight" on "healthy cat" in a bunch of other blogs that all link to the main blog/page. This will increase your topic authority on "healthy cat" and you'll get more organic visits on the main "The holistic solution for a healthy cat" page/blog.
Is the above accurate? Or am I failing to understand the concepts of topic authority and topic clusters correctly?
Does this work well?
Is it a good use of time/energy?
Thanks!

@bill-something Topic clustering is a great way to create an interconnected network of content surrounding one topic. You start by selecting a strong seed phrase as the basis and then look for long-tail variations related to it that will help your website rank well with search engines and attract readers. After determining your keyword foundation, craft a cornerstone article – think of this as the mission statement from which other pieces stem. Since these articles act like hubs for all others connected within the cluster, be sure they're longer than most blog posts; 1,500 words or more should do just fine. Once this is complete, it's time to create supplementary materials that will help your core goals. When writing this content remember to keep things concise (700 words or less) - as well as include graphics/images and external quotes for added credibility. Internal links too – they're an essential part of creating a strong anchor structure further down the line. Just some practical tips. So, yes, you do understand the concept, and yes, it is worth it, in my opinion. I can't say it's easy to get it right though, so good luck!

Can anyone recommend a good reliable blogging platform for a small to medium sized manufacturing and services company?
I've been asked by my manager to investigate the best blogging platform for our company website. On a recent CIM course it ways suggested that Wordpress is not necessarily reliable. Could anyone advise? The blog is required to provide a space for current industry news, casestudies etc. It is also envisaged that the blog will allow comments. I've only got good things to say about Wordpress, but have only used the platform for my own small SEO company.

A good content calendar/organizer suggestion?
Does anyone have a good content calendar/organizer/software/etc to help plan delivering and pushing out content? I haven't ever used anything other than an actual calendar, and that doesn't seem to help all that much. Is there anything better out there? Any suggestions would be fantastic! Much appreciated, Ruben

Move blogspot blog Domain/Blog
We have had a blog up for over 2 years on brandname.blogspot.com. I want to get the SEO value out of the blog - we have 400 blog post. We don't get alot of visitors and the blogposts weren't even linked to the main site. Should I just 301 redirect and move everything to domain/blog? Is that the best way? Thanks.

Help on blog topics for my niche
I'm looking for a couple of blogging ideas to get the ball rolling (mainly in my head) for one of the company websites I am working on. The site is https://perco.co.uk The company is based around offering trenchless technology across the UK. The first couple of posts are more like 'Latest news' items and I have only really come up with an idea of 'microtunnelling vs directional drilling'. I didn't seem to get much out of ubersuggest, soovle and google instant. Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks

What is the best practice for using the same content on two pages?
I have two websites in a very similar niche(s)...I have good unique content article that I would like to use on both sites because it adds value to the visitor experience.. Example: Science of Colors would be very useful for my seattle house painting paint colors page. I want to have content so they do not need to leave the site to navigate to second site. Would the identical content trigger a penalty or would it be crawled, ignored, and not indexed. Does having a rel=authorship on one site trump the site..Or is it a pile of BAD.

Premium Themes Use or Not?
I am just curious if any of you use the premium themes such as Genesis or Thesis, if so why did you move to those themes? Also what is the real benefit to one of those themes? I know both claim to help with SEO, but I can't really understand exactly how other than the code may be more efficient.

How can I use my unique content to my advantage?
Hi, I run http://ablemagazine.co.uk - we also put out a print magazine every 2 months (the biggest disability magazine in Britain) This means we have loads of unique content (around 30 feature stories and 30 news stories every 2 months) Just wondering how I can use this to my advantage? I've been social bookmarking the feature stories (reddit, etc) and a link to all my unique stuff on facebook/twitter. Just wondering if there's anything else I should be doing? Thanks
